Chapter 103 - Damn, She’s Good

"…"

"…"

Voloha continued looking into my eyes like she was staring into my soul itself.

Like hot damn, girl, I know I'm hot but we're not even married so please stop with that sinful eye locking.

"You aren't joking, are you?" she asked as she looked at the bottle placed on the table.

"I can demonstrate it to you if you want."

"And how will you do that?" her eyebrows went up.

"Well, it's an Elixir so I'll have to, you know, give myself a sword in my throat."

"Absolutely not!" Noelle exclaimed.

Huh, she stopped me before I could even consider doing it.

Damn, she's good.

"Alright, calm down, that was a joke."

These guys can't even take a fucking joke. They have a zero sense of humour.

Had I known these guys were so stuck up, I would never have joined them. Should I just resign and look for a new Guild in, you know, a new world in a new life?

That's a tempting proposition.

"Don't joke about things like that," Noelle sighed.

"Whatever."

"Are you always like… this?" Voloha asked an incredibly rude question.

"Yes."

"…I see," she nodded. "Anyway, what do you like me to do?"

Oh, so she understands that I did not call here solely to show her the Elixir.

As I said before, I like smart people.

"I need you to be the 'face'."

"Elaborate, please," she raised her eyebrows.

"It's simple; my main goal is to introduce this Elixir to the world without revealing my identity as the inventor. To achieve that goal, I also need to hide the fact that the inventor, aka moi, is from the New Dawn Guild."

"So, do you want me to pose as the creator?"

"I doubt you could do that. Or can you?"

"Absolutely not," she smiled wryly.

"Right. So, my plan is to unveil the Elixir only to the most important people on our side, like Guild Masters of influential Guilds, the royal family, nobles et cetera, in a seminar."

"A s-seminar?"

"A presentation, if you will. I just need you to act as the organiser of the event and invite everyone."

"Hmm, I see."

"There are some conditions, of course. First of all, while inviting them, don't specify that we're going to present the Elixir. Just tell them something like, 'Discovery of the millennium' or something that catches their attention and baits them into attending the seminar."

Time to use my superb marketing skills and attract those people by using catchy sentences.

Hmm, maybe I should make a flyer and send it to everyone.

"Okay…" Voloha slowly nodded.

"Do not, under any circumstances, tell anyone that we were successful in developing an Elixir."

"Why? They'll learn about it during the… Seminar, anyway."

"Yes, but at the Seminar we'll make them sign a non-disclosure agreement, which will be a contract that will bind them through the rules of God. That way, none of them will be able to disclose the existence of the Elixir."

"Wait…" the Princess' eyes widened. "Do you want to keep the Elixir exclusive to the upper echelons?"

Wut?

"No, of course not. I'm not a capitalist pig. The Elixir will be made available to the general public, but in a controlled manner. At least, until we find a way to mass produce them."

Which, by the way, would take me about a few hours.

"How will you control them?"

"We'll send a few Elixirs to the auctions. We will also provide a facility where the truly desperate people, those who are on the verge of death and can only be saved by an Elixir, would be allowed to use the Elixir as long as they take an oath to work for the State."

"You're basically taking advantage of the needful," she frowned.

"Maybe, but it's better than letting them die, wouldn't you say?"

"…"

"These measures are in place because we can only make a limited number of Elixirs."

Well, it's not like it's impossible to mass-produce them. In fact, I've already thought of a few ways through which I could achieve that.

However, the problem is that the mass-production of Elixirs is an achievement so great that it'll break the System, which means that the System will fight back.

I'll have to research the System a bit more and look for loopholes and backdoors to exploit.

But until then, there is only so much Elixirs I can make.

"If you like, I could help you. I'll arrange for the best Researchers-"

"Thanks for the offer, but no."

"May I ask the reason?"

"The Elixir is an important milestone for the native species of this world, so much so that how we handle it would decide the direction the World would go in. So, until we find a way to unite everyone in the war against the Aggressors, I will not reveal the method of creating Elixir."

"How can I be sure that this is not the New Dawn Guild trying to monopolise the Elixir?"

"Oh, but we are monopolising it. Just not for things like profit or fame. No, we have better reasons."

"I see," she nodded.

"Now, like I was saying, do not tell them that we're going to show the Elixir. Likewise, do not reveal that the one behind the discovery of the Millennium is the New Dawn Guild."

"Are you sure you want to miss this chance of glory?"

"Look at the mountain of corpses that was erected by the Aggressors and ask them if glory matters. The silence will be your answer."

"…" her eyes widened.

"Just kidding, no need to take it so seriously."

"…" she stared at me like she was going to kill me.

Haha, get pranked, big gurl.

"Anyway, we do want glory, yes, but it wouldn't matter even if we miss this chance. We'll get plenty of them later."

"Your confidence is astounding."

"Well, of course it is. I mean, the Elixir is just the first step."

"What?" her eyes widened to their extreme.

"Oh come on, no need to act like that."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, you, of all people, should know that Elixir is not the only thing I'm capable of."

"…" her eyes widened even further as a nervous smile appeared on her face.

"Or am I wrong, Ms. Peeper?"
