Chapter 86 Summer Frost POV Xander walked up tothen grabbed my hand and ledout of the hall along with the kids. I didn't object as this was what I wanted, so I followed him to his car, ignoring Dad's call.

He opened the car door foronce we arrived at the parking lot, and I hopped inside the backseat with the kids while he took the front seat.

"I'll join you guys later," Lisa smiled atfrom the window before he drove us out of the compound.

'Whoa! You were so cool back there' Jake broke the awkward silence that had crept into the atmosphere since the ride started, and Xander smiled as he glanced at us through the rearview mirror.

"I didn't think you were going to show up. I was so scared of Mom getting married to him. His Mom is a witch. I don't like her," Jack stated as he cringed, and Xander chuckled.

"I promised you that I was going to show up," Xander shrugged.

The kid kept talking nonstop for the rest of the journey and after what seemed like forever, we arrived at the mansion he had takento a few weeks ago.

"Wow! Is this your house?" Jack looked up at Jack once we alighted from the car.

"Hmm. Do you like it?" Xander held their hands and led them toward the entrance door while I trailed behind them.

"Of course, your house is beautiful. Are we going to live with you now?" Jake inquired once we arrived at the living room, but Xander squatted in front of them and stroked their hair slowly.

"Kids... Mommy is tired. Why don't you wait here forwhile I go show her to her room, hmm?” "Alright," "Mommy, you should get srest. We'll be fine," Jack assuredwith a smile on his face, and I nodded. "Let's go," Xander turned towith a smile on his face, and we he walked away, I trailed behind him.

I was stunned when we arrived at his master's bedroom, and I turned to him to confirm what was going on. "Why did you bringhere?" 1 raised my eyebrows inquisitively.

"So you will feel comfortable. The guestroom is a bit stuffy, so I feel you'll be better off here. Don't worry, you are sleeping here alone. I'll pass the night with the kids in the other room," He assuredas he tucked his hands inside pockets, and waves of disappointment spurred through me.

"Hmm," I briefly nodded.

"I'll go make something for us to eat. Callif you need anything." And with that, he walked out of the room and closed the door gently Chapter 86 behind him.

I breathed out and slumped on the bed once he was gone. I could not help the excitement which was overwhelming me. Though I didn't know what was going to happen later, but all that mattered toat the moment was the engagement not happening. Mr. Miller will never forgivefor this, but I'll have to worry about that later.

My body felt stiff and tired, but I managed to strip out of the gown, and after a cold shower, I felt much better.

Left with nothing to wear after I cback from the bathroom, I settled for one of Xander's big shirt which I could lay my hands on in his wardrobe.

Reaching for my phone, I had expected to see series of messages and calls from Hunter, but I didn't get any notification from him, so ! breathed out in relief.

My phone started to ring just when I was about to drop it, and I sighed when I saw it was Mr. Miller. I knew he called to scold me, so I ignored his call and just tossed my phone back on the bed.

Shortly after, a knock con the door, drawing my attention.

"Can I cin?" CXander's voice, and I quickly adjusted myself.

"Hmm," The door opened and he walked in with a neatly folded shirt. He had changed from the dress he was wearing earlier, and was dressed casually now.

"Oh... You changed into something else already. Sorry for bringing it late. I didn't have any female dress here, so Lisa had to go get it for me," He apologised as he handedthe dress, and I took it from him as I muttered a 'thank you! "Cdownstairs for dinner when you are done here," He turned to leave, but I called his attention. "Why did you do that?" "Why did you show up to interrupt the engagement?" I shouldn't be asking him the question as I was glad he did, but I didn't want to feel awkward. Someone had to talk about what happened earlier, and that should be me.

He turned to face me, his eyes gazing down at me.

"Did you do that so I could forgive you?" I huffed and tucked my hair behind my ear.

"I was going to start a new life with—" "And do you think I was ever going to allow you start a new life with another man?" He cutoff, and I swallowed nothing.

"Hmph!" I huffed and stood up.

"Summer..." He paused, then covered the distance between us, his eyes gazing into mine.

"You didn't look happy... Do you think I was going to fold my arms and watch you live the rest of your life miserably with someone you have no feelings for?"

"What do you care?" I scoffed and turned, but he grabbed my arm and turnedto face him, his arm wrapped around my waist, and our bodies pressing hard against eachother. Chapter 86

"I won't ever let you go, Summer...I won't let you be with another man if you are not going to be happy with him. It doesn't have to be me, but whoever the lucky man is going to be, you need to be happy about it. Only then, will I send you off and allow you to have a peaceful life with him..." He gazed into my eyes. "I will protect you, Summer, I need to protect you," He finally let go ofand stepped away.

"Cdownstairs when you are done here," He finally exited the room, ally and I released the breath I'd been holding unknowingly as my heart pumped hard in my chest. My phone beeped, and I hesitated before I checked the notification, but I quickly unlocked the phone when I saw that it was from Miguel.

'Ma'am, you should lie low for now. Mr. Miller is enraged and he is currently looking for you' I exhaled deeply after I read the text Miguel had sent to me...
