At the time, Yvonne would always grab a plate of fruits from the cabfor her after she heard her

and said to her gently, “Dinner’s ready soon.”

Candice’s thoughts were drifting, and she lost herself for a while. Only after sitting on the sofa for a

The next morning when she went downstairs, she accidentally walked into Alex and Nina.

The two of them weren’t in the best of moods. Candice paused a little before going over and asked

Alex, “Can I

take the day off?”

Alex looked at her bandaged hand. “Does it still hurt?”

There wasn’t much emotion in his tone, as if it was just an interaction between a boss and his

employee.

Candice looked down. “Yeah, it’s a bit itchy. I want to go to the hospital to get it checked.”

Alex looked at the bandaged hand for a moment before nodding. “Sure.”

Candice then asked the receptionist to call for a taxi and waited outside the door. It was not until her

figure had left the hotel door did Nina ask Alex, “Are you going to ignore what your mother said?”

Alex’s dark eyes looked at him as he let out a cold laugh. “Nina, I hate people who think they know

better than anyone. The only reason I allow you to calong withis because of your mother. I

have never allowed

you to interfere with Aether or my family matters.”

Nina’s face was slowly becoming paler. She wanted to explain, but Alex had already started to leave.

He stopped after taking two more steps and turned around to look at Nina. “Don’t contact my mother on

your own, and don’t followagain. You’re very annoying.”

Alex immediately left after saying that, leaving Nina behind, who looked shaken.

Meanwhile, Candice entered a cab outside the hotel door and went to a nearby Level 1 hospital.

The swelling on Candice’s hand didn’t recede much. The doctor put on smore medicine but no

longer bandaged her hand with gauze, simply asking her to pay more attention.

She waited for the medicine in her hand to dry off before slowly leaving.

anyone to help in such a short time.”

And then, he raised his chin, letting Candice see the dark circles under his eyes.

Suddenly, Hanley gave her a glance with those seductive eyes of his. “Do you want to try?”
