Josiah cast a surprised glance at Xavier.

“Did Louis not inform you of this?” he asked in curiosity.

“Of course not.” Xavier frowned deeply, an antagonistic look in his gaze. “Louis told me Dumbo was

trying to get something across the border for you, Josiah.”

Xavier was initially leaning against his office desk but straightened his posture all of a sudden.

He stared at Josiah in all seriousness. “What are you plotting that you need Dumbo to cross the border

in your stead?”

“What’s your guess?” Josiah suddenly got the urge to peek into Xavier’s mind.

Xavier furrowed his brows. “Is it really illegal drugs?”

Remaining silent, Josiah heaved a sigh. “It’s not anything illegal. It was the drug that brought you harm,

but it might also be the key to saving you. Yulissa had injected a hefty dose of it into you, so your dear

Dumbo was about to bring those overseas to have them analyzed by foreign authorities. Do you get it

now?”

After hearing that, Xavier studied Josiah with an incredulous look on his face, then glanced at Winnie

with a similar expression.

“You believed him? You believed in the bullsh*t Josiah said and were about to bring those drugs abroad

even if you had to lie to me about it, saying that you were visiting your granny?”

Winnie and Josiah exchanged glances before heaving inaudible sighs.

It seemed that Xavier had yet to recall that segment of his memory at all.

“Forget about what Josiah mentioned. All you need to know is that I wasn’t about to bring anything

illegal abroad. Since we have decided to clarify this at the press conference, we should prepare our

speech. Send someone from the PR department.”

“All right.” Xavier wore a frown. Whenever Josiah spewed some odd nonsense, his mind would go

blank.

He was not sure what was happening, but he trusted Winnie unconditionally and was willing to extend

that trust to Josiah.

When they were awaiting the arrival of the employees from the Public Relations Department, Winnie

asked Xavier, “You didn’t even know what I brought to the airport, nor did you have any idea what

happened over there. What gave you the courage to put me in charge of dealing with the press? Aren’t

you afraid that you might screw up?”

Without even thinking, Xavier sniggered. “Hah! I, Xavier Fairchild, always strike first, no matter if I’m in

the right.”

Josiah raised his hand in agreement. “I can testify for that. He had always been like that growing up,

possessing the traits of someone domineering. However, this trait has been amped up as of late.”

“I see.” Winnie arched her brow and went on with her interrogation of Xavier. “What if both Josiah and I

were in cahoots and had gotten our hands on some illegal drugs?”

Furrowing his brows, Xavier took a few moments to contemplate it but put on a sinister smirk afterward.

“So what? You’re innocent to me as long as you claim to be. I find in the two of you my friend and my

woman respectively, so I will not let such a predicament befall you two. Therefore, make sure

everything goes according to plan at the press conference later on, understand?”

Josiah was touched by his words. “And here I am assuming you’ve forgotten all about me ever since

you got yourself a girlfriend!”

Xavier’s expression changed in an instant. “But you have to make sure to stay away from my Dumbo!”

Winnie did not say anything. Here we go again.

Soon, Louis came with the employees from the Public Relations Department.

The team leader was in charge of drafting a speech for Winnie, while a managerial staff came to report

the results of his investigation.

“Mr. Fairchild, Mrs. Fairchild, according to the URL and public social media account ID that Mr. Tanser

provided, we have dug up the mastermind behind the incident. If we’re not mistaken, these are the two

studios behind it. After a detailed investigation, it was found that both studios have been dormant for

about a year. The last time they were active was fourteen months ago. They were advertising for a

male celebrity from the entertainment industry as well as either praising or defaming other hotshot

celebrities who were active around the same time. All the reviews and comments on others, either

negative or positive, that were put out by these two studios, were in service of that male celebrity.”

“Oh?” Xavier smirked mirthlessly. “How dare a lowly actor challenge my supreme authority? Who is he?

And what’s his name?”

“Um…” The manager of the Public Relations Department was a little hesitant. With his mouth agape,

he was not sure what to say at that moment.

However, he could not remain silent in the face of the CEO’s question, so he turned to Louis, who was

standing at the side, with a pleading look.

Having noticed the manager’s plea for help, Louis spoke up in response to Xavier’s question.

“Mr. Fairchild, we discovered that the celebrity is none other than your younger cousin, Nate Fraser.”

“Nate?” Xavier wore a deep frown, apparently perplexed by the situation.

Meanwhile, Winnie, given her retentive memory, instantly recalled information about Nate the moment

Louis made mention of Nate being Xavier’s cousin.

She chuckled softly. “I see. I get what’s going on now.”

“What do you get?” With a segment of his memory gone, Xavier could hardly piece things together.

“Did you offend him? How could this be? You never even crossed paths with each other.”

“They had.” Josiah had also connected the dots. “Although they had never interacted directly with each

other, they had indirect contact.”

“Have you also figured things out?” Xavier felt as if his head was getting dizzy.

“Yeah. It was because of Yulissa’s death. To be frank, back when you, Yulissa, and Nate were in a love

triangle, Nate was already an avid fan of Yulissa’s. Nearing the end of it, you and Nate nearly had a

falling out because of Yulissa. With Yulissa dead, and Dumb—Winnie being maliciously reported, I

suppose Nate must’ve received some sort of news, or he had kept in touch with Yulissa before this. It

was thus he held such an intense grudge toward Winnie. It’s likely he wants to avenge Yulissa.”

What the heck is this? Xavier pinched in between his brows. “Did you just say Yulissa is dead? Hadn’t

she left Chanaea long ago? What does Dumbo have to do with her death?”

“Yes, she is dead. She tried to harm both you and Winnie, and you killed her when you retaliated in

self-defense.”

Xavier did not know what to say to that, feeling that the veins in his temples could pop at any moment.

“What are you talking about? Since when did you become a scriptwriter?”

He found such a turn of events funny. “Besides, it has been years since I last heard from her, let alone

meet with her. D*mn… My head hurts like hell. Are you some sort of nemesis to me, Josiah? My head

hurts every time you speak.”

He was not lying when he said his head hurt. There were even beads of sweat on his forehead.

Worried that he might go into a frenzy due to overstimulation, Winnie hurried over to him and patted his

back lightly.

“You should stop thinking about it if your head hurts. Let your brain rest. I’ll take care of this on my own,

so you don’t need to do anything. I don’t care who that celebrity is. Whoever plotting against me will be

in deep trouble.”
