Winnie overslept because she had a difficult time falling asleep in the first half of the night and was only

able to sleep soundly in the second half of the night.

If Josiah had not knocked on the door, she could have slept until two o’clock in the afternoon.

Without even bothering to wash up, she hurriedly opened the door for Josiah.

“What’s the matter? Has Xavier’s condition improved? Does he remember who I am now?”

“No. He has left.”

“Where did he go?”

went to the company.”

“Could it be that he went to your house to look for Rachel?” Josiah made a guess.

Jacinta.

Even though Xavier had issues with his body and memory even before, she had never felt so uneasy.

However, things were different this time. He could remember everyone but her. It made her feel

The two did not waste any time. Soon, they drove out of the mansion area.

Unexpectedly, Winnie received a call from Michael while they were on the way to Aqua Moana.

Michael sounded very anxious. “Ms. Garland, I have bad news for you. Mr. Fairchild came to my

cousin’s house and forcibly took Rach away!”

“What?” Winnie was perplexed. “How did he discover your cousin’s house?”

Letting out a sigh, Michael replied, “I’m not sure when he gave Rach a phone. It appears that she sent

Mr. Fairchild her location. What should I do now?”

“What else can we do?” Josiah, who was seated next to Winnie, could hear what Michael was saying

because of the latter’s loud voice. “Why didn’t anyone stop him when he tried to take her away? Don’t

you have a big family there? You could have at least called the police if you couldn’t stop him.”

“I was initially unaware of it. After I woke up in the morning, I went out to get some breakfast. When I

returned home, my cousin informed me that Rach had left with someone.”

“What in the world?” Josiah was slightly irritated. “You just said she was taken away, and now you say

she left with someone. I’m beginning to question if it was actually Xavier who took your daughter away.”

“It’s definitely Mr. Fairchild. His photo can be found on the internet. There’s no way my cousin would

make a mistake.”

“Your cousin is a—” Josiah lost his composure and almost called Michael’s cousin a moron, but Winnie

interrupted him at that moment.

“Don’t worry, Mr. Zimmerman. If Xavier really did take her away, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Let me make

a call first. Wait for my news.”

“Okay. Sorry for troubling you, Ms. Garland.”

“No problem.” After hanging up, Winnie told Josiah to call Xavier.

“It’s inconvenient to call while driving. I’ll give you my phone, and you can call him.” As Josiah spoke,

he fished out his phone and handed it to Winnie.

Just when Winnie was about to search for Xavier’s phone number in the contacts, she suddenly

stopped.

Josiah gave her a quick glance as the car came to a stop at the red light.

“What’s wrong? Why aren’t you calling him? Why are you staring out the window?”

“There’s no need to call anymore.” Winnie slowly put down the phone. “I found them.”

“Where are they?” While asking, Josiah followed Winnie’s gaze and looked out the window.

Xavier and Rachel were eating buns while seated at a table in a bakery.

Rachel was gobbling up the food without any care about her image.

Nevertheless, Xavier continued to gaze at her affectionately, occasionally giving her another bun and

wiping the stains from her face.

He even went so far as to use a tissue to clean every finger of hers that had touched the buns.

Clenching Josiah’s phone tightly, Winnie piped up, “I just realized something.”

“What is it?”

“You said that Xavier already fell for me when I was acting dumb back then, but he was afraid to admit

it because he thought it was perverted. Actually, I didn’t quite understand that kind of thinking at that

time. Even if the other person has some mental issues, I believe that loving someone is a very pure

feeling that has nothing to do with perversion.”

“How about now?”

Winnie’s expression turned gloomy as she remarked, “Now that I see it, I have to admit it’s quite

disgusting. Look at him. Doesn’t it appear as though he’s about to put her fingers in his mouth? This is

“Just admit it. There’s no shame in doing so. Xavier was also jealous of me before, and he didn’t hide it

at all.”

“Fine.” Winnie leaned back against the seat and took a few deep breaths before saying, “I admit it. I’m

jealous and furious. When will this be over? When can he go back to being himself?”

After remaining silent for a while, Josiah drove the car forward and made a U-turn before coming to a

stop in front of the bakery and saying, “Winnie, do you not realize that you’re a very attractive woman?”

“Of course I’m aware of that. I don’t need you to tell me that.”

“That’s it!” Josiah turned to face Winnie. “He can now sleep through the night, and he has memories of

you. Please take a rest here. I’ll go and talk to him.”

Nodding, Winnie uttered, “Go ahead.”

As soon as Josiah left, Winnie made a phone call.

“Help me look into someone. Her name is Yolanda Xander, and she only arrived in Avenport two days

ago. I need a detailed account of her most recent whereabouts and call history.”

Winnie had given it a lot of thought the previous night.

She believed there was no issue with the traditional medicine prescribed by her master and the

acupuncture technique he used.

Hence, the only problem was Yolanda.

Xavier’s report from the previous night showed that the level of toxins in his body had increased, albeit

slightly.

However, it was still a fact that it had increased. Only a few people were able to interact with Xavier

alone and in close proximity to him.

Yolanda was clearly one of them.

The other day, Yolanda mentioned that she was hungry and wanted to go out for some food. Winnie

had found that odd. During the time Yolanda and Sebastian were outside, Yolanda had barely touched

her food, despite claiming to be extremely hungry.

It was not beyond possibility that she had done something to Xavier in those few minutes.
