his wolf had set its sights on me for dinner.

I whispered in a panic, “I’m… I’m sorry.”

Griffon didn’t say anything, looked away to focus on the big screen again.

I took a deep breath and fell into my seat.

As my heart pounded, Jackson whispered, “Darling, don’t be afraid.”

I looked at Jackson in disbelief. “What… did you just say?”
