Chapter 896: Won’t You Help Me?

Marquess Samed was smart enough to have brought this matter up at the right moment.

Not only did it induce curiosity in the hearts of the other noblemen standing in this group with him but he also got to witness how this old man reacted in response to his query.

“No decision has been made yet.” Aramis Brodie, the oldest man in this group answered without giving away too much information.

This old man whom Yvonne had neither met nor recognized was none other than the famous and highly acclaimed Dean of the Royal Academy.

He had been working as the Head of the most prestigious educational institution of their Kingdom for many years and had absolute authority over what happened within it.

Therefore, he was the perfect person to answer any question related to the academy and the boys studying in it.

Marquess Samed was sure that he had touched a certain nerve with his question as the old man’s shoulders had straightened up the moment when attention was brought to him by means of the query.

.....

Yet, all he received was a cautious and diplomatic statement that neither approved nor rejected the theories he had come up with in his mind.

“We shall wait until we hear any official word from the King.” Dean Brodie, who also happened to be Duke Maldock Brodie’s uncle, added to the answer he had given earlier.

It was without a doubt that this was a roundabout and clean reply in order to avoid spilling anything before the Marquess who was known to have a slippery tongue.

Nevertheless, the others could only accept what they received and did not think too much about it.

‘Maybe this truly hasn’t been decided.’ Marquess Kiron was one of the naive men who believed what the Dean had explained.

However, Marquess Samed was not one of them as he was sure that the old man was trying to keep this information concealed for longer despite knowing what the academy had planned to do in this regard.

Therefore, he shifted his attention to the next best source of information he could think of for this particular topic.

Feeling his ardent gaze shifting from the Dean to another person in their group, the others moved their lines of sight accordingly as well.

“I have no clue either, Marquess.” This time it was the youngest in the group who had spoken up to convey a negative response once again.

The reply was so brief and precise that it did not allow any further path for the gossipmonger to try and trick him into opening up somehow.

Having his ploy to pry further information from the younger man shut down, Marquess Samed sulked while diverting his attention toward another man in this group.

As he watched this sight, Earl Mikren let out a little snicker when he saw the man, who was known to be the smartest in their generation, was now looking like an abandoned pup seeking its owner.

Others might not have caught the devilish reaction he was displaying after what he had just witnessed but the man who was closest to him certainly had and soon shot him a fierce glare.

‘Does he think that he still has some authority over me?’ The Earl found that threatening glare to be amusing yet he decided to put an end to his secretive snickers.

He had reached these conclusions not out of fear that stemmed from being glared at but the respect he had for the older man who had been by his side for a while now.

Dean Aramis Brodie was not just the Head of the Royal Academy where he had studied as a youngster but that man had also been a mentor and confidante to his father who had passed away only a few years ago.

When his father was still alive, he had met the Dean on numerous occasions and hence was acquainted with the old man who did not appear at such parties too often.

Therefore, thinking of their history together, Earl Mikren had immense respect for the older man who had been stern and rigid in his ways from the time they had first met.

Hence he chose to put aside his mischievous smirk which had slipped out when he saw the Marquess’s foolish actions.

Ignorant of what was taking place between these two men, the man in question had turned and fixed his gaze on the one who had been with him since the party had begun.

‘Won’t you help me a little?’ His eyes reflected his thoughts which were now being aimed at Marquess Kiron.

Receiving this silent cry for help, the other Marquess displayed an awkward smile as he glanced at the youngest man here in hopes of gaining some assistance.

However, that young man continued to maintain an expressionless face as though he did not care about what was going on here.

Thus, Marquess Kiron, who had asked for help, could only let out a forced chuckle after he was ignored and attempted to move their conversation to a different topic.

‘My son won’t even answer me so how am I supposed to help you, Marquess?’ He sighed and secretly cried at how strict his oldest child was.

After all, the youngest in this group and the one whom Marquess Samed had sought next to gain some answers was the first-born child of the Kiron family.

This also explained the reason for his appearance resembling Marquess Kiron as they shared a father-child relationship.

Ever since he had chosen a different path for himself, to fulfill his dreams, he had handed over all of his duties as the heir to his second brother.

Therefore, for many years now, the duties of the Kiron family’s heir had been under the care of the second son while the actual heir had focused his attention elsewhere.

Due to his busy schedule and the fact that his interests lay elsewhere, the oldest son had been inactive in the social circles for years which would also explain why many of those from the younger generation weren’t too acquainted with him.

Though they might not recognize his face right away, they had all heard of his name in one place or the other at some point in time.

This was thanks to his dream which he had fulfilled through his hard work and determination.

From a young age, the oldest son of the Kiron family, Maximillan Kiron had always been interested in the books he read rather than the people around him.

Hence, after graduating from the Royal Academy with stellar grades, he opted to apply for the position of tutor there to further focus on his interests which had always been centered around books and learning.

His performance, ability, and passion had all contributed to him being appointed as a tutor at the academy in no time, and ever since then, he had been working hard to educate the youth of their Kingdom.

From an assistant tutor who trained under the guidance of an experienced professor to becoming the youngest professor to ever work at the academy, he had reached his goal in just a few years.

It was his diligence that had led to his rapid progress when compared to his peers.

Now, as a senior professor who was even applauded by the Dean, Professor Maximillan Kiron was the perfect person to gain answers from.

However, Marquess Samed had failed in his attempts and it looked like even Marquess Kiron could not gain any answers from his son on account of their familial ties.

Therefore, the disappointment the two men were feeling right now was indescribable.

‘Sorry, Father but even you get no privileged information.’ Maximillan, the youngest professor at the Royal Academy shook his head but did not let his thoughts out.

This thought was sufficient to imply that the two men associated with the Royal Academy knew what the plan for the King’s birthday celebration was yet they had done nothing to let the others know about it.

Therefore, the rest could only speculate as to what would take place as the much-awaited celebration would be here in no time.

‘Only a few more weeks...’ Marquess Samed reminded himself while trying to coax his eager heart which desired to obtain answers right now.

However, as this was not possible due to the tightly sealed lips of these two men, all he could do was wait until any official news was released from the Royal Academy.
