273 Leash On The Wolf.

Valerian and the three monarchs stood on the battlefield surrounded by thousands of corpses, watching the proceedings, but they did not have any fluctuations on their faces. They were not bothered by what was going on around them.

Morgana heard the hushed voices and asked, “What do you think they are chanting? Why does it not match our common tongue to cast spells?”

Valerian replied, “They are chanting in the ancient tongue of Valkyria. Every nation in this world has an ancient language of its own. This language is derived from the sounds made by the original magical beings and when chanted with a certain emotion in their hearts. This language allows the people to communicate with these beings.”

The three people nodded, and Ashlyn asked, “Val, how do you even know all this? I mean this much knowledge, it should not have been buried in some library, right?”

Valerian nodded and said, “I learned everything in the magical realm. The maiden of the clar-awks taught me. She told me that once a nation selects a royal protector, that person will be allowed to enter the magical realm to learn and inherit all the knowledge. This knowledge will not be passed down to anyone other than the royal protector.”

Lyon sighed and said, “I never thought the royal protectors would have this secret. You know this is unfair.”

Morgana poked him, “Who asked you to ascend the throne? There is still time. Go rake up some achievements and then abdicate the throne to be the royal protector.”

Lyon did not reply and focused on watching the ritual from a distance. Then, finally, Ashlyn said, “Look over there. What are they doing?”

The four people cast their gazes to the side and found a few Valkyrian soldiers dragging the corpses of their fallen comrades back to the magic circle. Upon a closer look, Morgana said, “They are using the blood of the fallen to summon this god?”

Valerian nodded and said, “The dark wolf is not a very friendly god. He is notorious and cunning. Ruthless to the core. I heard a legend back in the realm of the Clar-awks.

One day, Vita was dwelling on the surface giving birth to new life, when she met a wolf pup. This pup was dark in color and had red eyes. The goddess liked the pup and blessed him with wisdom. The wolf pup began to follow the goddess and grew stronger.

The wolf was brilliant, and Vita loved it. However, when Vita finished vitalizing the entire planet, this wolf suddenly attacked her. The goddess was shocked, but she was not harmed. Instead, this wolf thought that the lady was gentle and took it as her weakness.

Vita asked the wolf why he attacked her, and the wolf told her he wanted to be as strong as she was. The goddess realized that this was the wolf’s innate nature. Thinking about this, she sighed, sealed the wolf away, and cursed him, naming him a dark wolf.

She said that if anyone were willing to come in contact with this beast, they would be banned from ever awakening the blessing of magic for an eternity.”

The three people were shocked at all this information, and they slowly discussed it with Valerian while waiting for the ritual to finish. Finally, after a few minutes, the prince of lumen said, “You all go back.”

The people were surprised but took the hint and decided to leave. When they were about to leave, Morgana turned around and patted Valerian on his shoulder as she asked him to be careful. The young man nodded to her with a faint smile.

As the three people left, Valerian sighed and raised his head to look at the two moons. He recalled the nights spent in the orphanage gazing at the moons in a daze. After a few seconds, he stepped forward and slowly advanced toward the magic circle.

Fortuna and Boo-too were watching all this from the carriage. The flame sparrows were managing to fly in shifts because they were aware of the mighty presence they were carrying.

Boo-too looked at the scene and said, “Is he being too eager?”

Fortuna shook her head and said, “Watch, I can guess what he intends to do, but I am not too sure.”

Boo-too shook her head and said, “I think he is going to put up a strong front and try to intimidate the dark wolf. That’s foolish.”

Fortuna did not say anything and watched the scene unfold with calm.

Valerian had no idea what the two of his audience were thinking, and neither did it matter to him. But, as he walked closer to the magic circle, he sensed that the wind had stagnated in the surroundings. This indicated that the wolf god would answer the summon soon.

Just as he thought, a small circle appeared in the center of the magic circle, and all the blood on the ground began to flow inside it. The chanting picked up the pace, and the voice also became louder.

Valerian stopped and took a dark dagger from his magic pouch. The action was so smooth that none of the people even noticed him. His eyes were calm as he began walking again.

The dark hole in the center of the magic circle also began to expand in size. Soon, it was as big as the magic circle, and the elders standing outside the magic circle knelt on the ground.

As Valerian closed in on the circle, he saw a figure slowly emerging from the hole. It was a wolf head, as big as the torso of an adult human. The being had placed a paw outside the hole when Valerian dashed forward without any expression on his face and without any hesitation.

He cast a few spells around the magical being coming out of the hole, then he concentrated the battle aura in his legs, allowing him to cover ten meters of distance in one leap.

Under the shocked gazes of the people, Valerian appeared over the head of the wolf. Although the shock in the eyes of the dark wolf was evident, he did not expect to be attacked by someone when he stepped out of the hole.

The next moment a roar echoed in the region, shocking and scaring many people. The Valkyrian elders were shaken to their core. The strongest and highest entity in their hearts was attacked and injured before their eyes.

The Valkyrians trusted in the might of the dark wolf even more than they believed in Vita. This being was the symbol of ultimate strength and power for them. How could they digest such an incident so easily?

The leading elder said, “How dare you sneak attack our god? You mongrel.”

Valerian did not bother to answer and directly cast a wind spell and beheaded the man. At this moment, a hoarse voice echoed in the surroundings, “Puny human, I will kill you.”

This voice belonged to the dark wolf. It made Valerian shiver a bit, but that was all. The prince took a deep breath and said, “You think the risk of death will stop me? Filthy mutt, you love playing in the dark, right? Let me give you some light for a change.”

Valerian took out a dagger and stabbed the wolf. The two daggers did not penetrate the vital organs of the wolf but caused him enough pain to growl and squirm. After all, the young man had stabbed him in the skull.

Don’t think the skull was delicate. The bone alone was a few inches thick and as tough as a metal sheet. Valerian could not cut through it and did not intend to do that either. Though to keep things under control, the young man stabbed the wolf with another dagger and used it to channel light attribute mana through the creature’s body.

The Dark Wolf had no weakness, but if he came in contact with light. The pain will be excruciating. And that happened as soon as the light attribute entered his body. Dark Wolf started to shiver and wail. This scene was not something people will ever forget.

The dark wolf growled and asked, “What do you want?”

Valerian smiled and said, “Very simple, leave the humans Valkyria on its own to fend off. They need to learn from their own mistakes.”

The wolf snorted and said, “Do you think this will scare me off, fool? You cannot kill me or even harm me.”

As soon as his words dropped, Valerian channeled the decay magic in his body and said, “What will happen if I did not kill you? Are you stronger than the power of decay?”

His voice was cold and scarier than the dark wolf’s hoarse sound. But, of course, the magical creature did not expect such a thing, and he was put in a bind like this. He said, “You can try to break my will, human, but you will fail.”

Valerian smiled and said, “Hehe, then let us see.”
