Chapter 262 They Wouldn’t Dare!
“Ms. Maia, how did I do just now? Mr. Nigel would’ve end up being punched by Mr. Cedric if I hadn’t acted fast! However, Mr.
Nigel sure is noisy. He isn’t even your boyfriend yet, he keeps trying to interfere with your relationships.
“Mr. Cedric was intimidating as well. He had completely ignored Mr. Nigel’s presence.”
Buck paused, gave a thumbs up to Maia and continued, “But you were actually the best! You made Mr. Cedric leave obediently.
The man, so feared by many, did not even dare put up a fight! The power of love is amazing!
“However, are you sure it’s a good idea to just throw Mr. Cedric out? I don’t think he’s fully recovered. Isn’t it a bit heartless to do
that to him?”
Maia could feel her temples throbbing from Buck’s incessant nagging. She took a seat on the sofa and glanced at him. Finally,
she yelled at him to stop as she could take it no more. “Buck Harvey!”
“At your service!”
“Why are you here, this early in the morning?” Maia asked.
“Right. I’m here to confirm the list of our artists attending The Horizon Awards!”
“You sure you’re just not here to enjoy the show?”
Buck smiled sincerely as he took out a file. “This is part of the list of attending artists. The PR team could not decide on a final
list, so they wanted me to check with you. Aside from you, we have 6 available invitations, including Hope, Jennifer Nell and
Mabel Vidal.
“They’re all nominated for the best actress award, best supporting actress award and best original soundtrack award,
respectively. We are still left with 3 undecided attendees.”

Buck passed Maia a list of shortlisted candidates to attend the award. Maia studied the list briefly and asked in confusion, “Why
didn’t they choose the best three candidates?”

Buck gave her a file that contained their details. “They used to be supported by our advertisers. However, they didn’t manage to
do very well recently, and our sponsors voiced their dissatisfaction.”
“Our sponsors?”
Buck nodded. “They’ve approached me to inquire about our artists that would be attending the event.”
“Since when do we allow our sponsors to interfere with our company’s decisions? Besides, as sponsors they would be provided
with seats too. If they’re so insistent, then they should invite

“They can’t expect us to just bend to their will. They can’t have their cake and eat it too.”
These sponsors were such sly wolves. The artists they were interested in were not as well- known. Hence, they might not be
able to gain anything from the exposure.
“Ms. Maia, I understand clearly what you’re trying to say but the executives were worried about alienating our sponsors too.
These are huge brands in the industry and The Horizon Awards is an important event.
“Since we’ve already taken 3 of the seats, why don’t we just give in to them?”
“If our sponsors feel alienated just because of something as small as this then we shouldn’t continue our contracts with them.
Are we just puppets on the string? If we gave in this time, there would be a second time, and a third!

“As long as I’m the CEO of Starlight Entertainment, I would not allow our sponsors to interfere with our decision–making! They
shouldn’t even dare!”
Maia handed the list to Buck as soon as she finished. Buck nodded, clearly getting the message. “Then, I’ll proceed with these 3
candidates.”

“Talented artists should be given a second chance. If you’re not good enough, you’ll only end up being forgotten.”
The entertainment industry was a complicated place. The people who chose this field of work should know the reality of it.
When they were still in the midst of their discussion, a loud commotion came from Maia’s
door.
The soundproof walls of the Cloud Nine Residence were excellent. The commotion that was going on outside was definitely a
huge one to be able to resonate through the walls.
Buck quickly ran toward the balcony to have a look. He saw two men caught in a fight! However, Buck could not clearly see their
faces as Maia’s house was on the higher floors.
“What’s going on?”
‘There are two men fighting downstairs and for some reason, they look oddly familiar.” Maia quickly walked to the balcony as she
heard Buck. The moment she lay her eyes on the commotion, she immediately knew who they were.
“Those idiots!” She yelled and ran toward the entrance.

Buck could finally recognize them after Maia’s reaction. “M–Mr. Cedric and Nigel!”
uck took a while to regain his composure before whispering to himself. Cedric had not left

It was not every day that you got to see someone as powerful as Cedric Larkin and a world- renowned lawyer in a brawl.
Buck would never expect to see something that would only happen on TV occurring in real life. Buck could not help but shiver as
he thought of his boss. He should probably follow her as he
was her PA.
The moment the elevator doors opened, Maia dashed toward the front entrance as she pushed her way through the crowd to get
to them.
